I have often lamented the downfall of Twitter conversation. It used to be that Twitter was filled with @ replies instead of seeing only likes. Even retweets are becoming more rare. So when I saw someone attempting to get a conversation for the arts started again, I wanted to do my part in sharing the idea.
A colleague and friend from my Twitter feed, @juliefossitt, is in the beginnings of a new project. She quickly recaps this project in her blog post Simplyfy.Simplify on her blog Arts+Marketing. She calls it the #OneQuestion project.
Through a learning experience during the Banff Centre of Arts and Creativity Cultural Leadership program, Julie compiled a list of questions she felt were good to ask emerging and seasoned arts leaders to ponder how best to move our arts industry forward. She felt the questions themselves served as a reference point for her, and the conversations that can result in asking these questions could open up new possibilities to learn from each other.
From her post:
I have compiled approximately 100 questions that should be pondered by every emerging (and seasoned) cultural leader in this country. In order to make it manageable for other busy minds, I will be sharing a few every week and hoping that other cultural leaders will not only post their own questions, but will share answers with me on Twitter, Instagram or through private messages.
You can follow along with her and join the conversation on Twitter @juliefossitt or on Instagram @juliefossitt. She asks each of us to not only come up with answers to these questions, but also to send her questions to add to her list.
I hope you will join Julie, and me, on Twitter to carry this project forward. I would love to see more discussion about the arts and #artsmanagement from #artsleaders around the world.
Thank you, and as Julie puts it, ” Cheers to asking questions in the new year!”
