ADS Podcast: “Toying with Twitter” with Erica Sipes

Posted by Shoshana
· Friday, May 10th, 2019

I had the pleasure of speaking with Erica Sipes, a pianist, practice coach, avid Twitter user, the mastermind behind the blog Beyond the Notes, and a Toy Lady. A Toy Lady? Yes, Erica is also a manager at the Imagination Station in Roanoke, VA. On this episode we speak with Erica about her use of Twitter and her very own best practices for starting and staying with Twitter. Also, how does her job as a manager in a toy store correlate with arts management. What can we learn from her experiences. Lastly, find out if I am able to pronounce Roanoke correctly.

Other interesting references that came up in this episode:

  • New Music Gathering on Twitter with #musochat
  • The TwtrSymphony
  • American Shakespeare Center
  • Classical Music: The challenges of making the affection clear
  • Alama Ensemble

Testimonials

Arizona Women’s Theatre Company (AZWTC)

“I loved the sessions and as I was taking them for my newly elected position, I felt I needed some close mentoring and strict goal setting..She absolutely did listen to our needs and tailored her sessions to fit our little situation. I have bragged about the sessions to other admins in our areas. Some of the instructions were familiar as I had followed her ideas for some time. Most are obtainable over time and will be implemented this coming year as we finish our season. My time with Shoshana at ADS, I would rate it First Class!” —Joy Bingham Strimple, Board President
