In our world of constant communication, I see people talking to themselves. I do not mean this in the way you think I do. Yes, some people do appear like they are talking to themselves, and some might just be. What I mean is that many of us keep preaching to our own crowd, our own bubble, and we do not reach out to new, interesting people.
If you want to build your audiences, use the techniques of audience development for diversifying your audience. Go out there and start talking to people that are different than you. Bridge the gaps – listen, understand, and truly communicate with them. You will gain new perspectives and new relationships!
Stop the madness of being trapped in your own bubble. Stop talking to yourself or you might end up feeling that you and your organization are “alone” in the audience.
