Hello!
My name is Shoshana and after over 10 years in arts management, I have decided to start my own business. I have discovered that many cultural arts organizations are in need of learning about audience development. Audience development has been a buzz word during many arts marketing conferences, workshops and seminars. However, most of the time, the idea is only communicated. They never seem to get to the nitty-gritty of what should be a part of your audience development plan and how to implement the plan.
I was a member of the Boulder County Arts Alliance’s Audience Development Initiative and through the initiative, I created an audience development plan and implemented several stages of the plan. During my research, I have found out that Audience Development has been standard in the United Kingdom, but has been slower to catch on in the United States. So, I have decided to step in. I am now on a mission to increase awareness of this important concept.
These days, simply marketing by placing ads will not help you to create the audience that you desire. And of course, everyone would like an audience that is loyal and committed to your organization. In order to accomplish this, you need a plan that will help you create your loyal audience.
Audience Development is all about broadening, deepening and diversifying. It is about getting to know who your existing and potential audiences are and developing lasting and meaningful relationships with them.
Over the course of this blog, I will share elements of audience development with you. You can take the ideas and run with them. If you need help in implementing an idea or plan, that is what I am here for.
I hope you join me on my audience development adventure and check in often for new ideas!
May all your audiences be happy and loyal ones, and if not, feel free to contact me!
