I can’t say enough about collaboration. It is not only one of the 4 C’s of audience development, but something that definitely brings new hopes, opportunities, and direction for an artist or arts organization. The last few days I have been writing articles about collaborations. One was about an art gallery that teamed up with a social cause organization that helps fight poverty. They are having an event that will benefit the social cause organization, giving 20% of the gallery sales for an entire weekend. The social cause organization has been working to spread the word as well as the art gallery. With both organizations working to get the word out, I have a feeling the event will be successful. I am sure the art gallery is getting warm fuzzies as well for their generous percentage towards the social cause. Click here for the complete story.
The second collaboration is our local arts alliance teaming up with a local kitchen and bath home design center. The design center is displaying art work for the arts alliance’s members and a percentage of the sale proceeds goes to the arts alliance. It’s a win-win-win situation. The design center will get more traffic via the gallery, the photographer who is currently having an exhibit there will get sales and exposure, and the arts alliance will get a percentage to help continue its mission of promoting art and artists in our area. Click here if you want to know more about the exhibit.
All-in-all, collaboration can do wondrous things. You just have to be open to new relationships and new horizons!
Until next time, may your audiences be happy and loyal ones, and if they are not, feel free to contact me!
